A New Vision: Bringing Eye Care to the Doorstep
In India’s underserved regions, access to quality eye care remains a luxury. Many elderly villagers live with preventable blindness caused by cataracts or refractive errors, simply because they cannot afford surgery or travel to a distant hospital. AIM Foundation saw this gap and responded with one of its most impactful outreach programs: free eye check-ups and surgeries for those who need them most.
In collaboration with the Susrut Eye Foundation & Research Centre, AIM has organized numerous eye camps across districts like South 24 Parganas and Purulia. These camps screen hundreds of patients, providing reading glasses, medication, and referrals for those needing advanced procedures. Most notably, AIM supports cataract surgeries free of cost, restoring not just vision, but independence and dignity.
The impact of regaining sight cannot be overstated. For many, it means returning to work, reading religious texts, or simply walking unassisted. It alleviates the burden on families and reignites self-worth in patients who had resigned themselves to darkness.
These camps also serve an educational purpose—volunteers and local health workers raise awareness about eye care, diabetes-related vision loss, and the importance of early intervention. Through consistent outreach, AIM is not only restoring eyesight but fostering a culture where preventive care is valued.
In every patient who sees clearly again, AIM reaffirms its mission: health is not a privilege—it’s a right.
