Empowering Girls with Confidence: A Workshop on Menstrual Hygiene Awareness

AIM Foundation recently conducted a transformative workshop focused on menstrual hygiene awareness—a subject still considered taboo in many parts of India. With the vision of breaking silence and empowering adolescent girls, the workshop was led by a dedicated team including Dr. Ghosh, Ms. Nibedita Basu, and Dr. Banani Dutta.

The session aimed to educate young girls about the biological aspects of menstruation, the importance of hygiene practices, and how to manage periods safely and confidently. Discussions also highlighted the psychological and social barriers many face due to societal stigma.

What made the session impactful was its interactive nature. Girls were encouraged to ask questions, share personal experiences, and dispel long-held myths. The facilitators responded with compassion and scientific clarity, ensuring a safe space for dialogue. The workshop also included the distribution of sanitary pads and food packets, ensuring both awareness and support.

Menstrual hygiene is closely tied to school attendance, mental well-being, and overall health. AIM Foundation understands that education on this front doesn't just improve individual lives—it uplifts communities. By normalizing menstruation and providing access to necessary resources, we pave the way for a more inclusive and healthy society.

This initiative was another step in AIM Foundation’s continuous mission to empower women and girls through health, education, and advocacy. The overwhelming participation and feedback affirmed the need for more such interventions.
