Empowering Women Through Menstrual Hygiene Awareness: A Step Toward Health and Dignity

At AIM Foundation, our commitment to improving the physical and mental well-being of women has always been at the forefront of our social initiatives. One of the most pressing yet often neglected issues in women's health is menstrual hygiene. Recognizing this need, we have launched a series of impactful workshops aimed at educating adolescent girls and their families on the importance of menstrual health, hygiene, and open conversation.

In many parts of India, menstruation continues to be shrouded in stigma and misinformation. This silence contributes to poor hygiene practices, leading to health complications and a lack of self-confidence among young girls. Our workshops aim to change that narrative. By promoting awareness and breaking cultural taboos, we strive to ensure that every girl can manage her periods safely, with dignity and without shame.

These initiatives are made possible thanks to the tireless efforts of dedicated facilitators such as Dr. Ghosh, Ms. Nibedita Basu, and Dr. Banani Dutta. Their informative sessions help bust age-old myths and empower participants with the knowledge they need to take control of their health. Through live demonstrations, question-and-answer segments, and one-on-one guidance, our experts build a safe space where dialogue thrives.

Our workshops don’t just focus on education. AIM Foundation also ensures practical support. Participants receive sanitary products and essential hygiene kits to help implement what they’ve learned. Additionally, we distribute nutritious food packets to address nutritional gaps that exacerbate menstrual problems. Together, these interventions build not only awareness but also lasting impact.

The response has been overwhelming. Many participants shared how they felt heard for the first time, how they now understood their bodies better, and how they could discuss menstruation confidently with peers and family. Mothers expressed relief at finally having answers to questions they were never encouraged to ask.

At AIM Foundation, we believe that empowerment begins with awareness and action. By addressing menstrual hygiene head-on, we are not only protecting women's health but also reinforcing their right to dignity, knowledge, and equality. Through continued education and community engagement, we hope to foster a more inclusive society—one where no girl has to feel ashamed of a natural biological process.

We invite everyone—men, women, educators, health professionals, and community leaders—to support this mission. Together, we can create a future where menstruation is treated not with silence but with understanding and compassion.
