Shaping Futures through Digital Literacy: Kasba Centre Impact

At our Sarala Punyashram Centre in Kasba, Kolkata, the Dhriti Foundation’s mission is being realized every day—by empowering underprivileged youth with critical computer and geospatial skills.

Our students are trained in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, as well as Remote Sensing, GIS, and tools like ArcGIS, QGIS, and AutoCAD. These technical proficiencies open pathways in fields such as urban planning, environmental analysis, and disaster management—careers often considered out of reach for these learners.

By making industry-level training accessible in local neighborhoods, we are dismantling the digital divide and preparing young minds to compete in a data-driven world. Students learn to not only operate software but also to think analytically and solve real-world problems using technology.

One of our students, once unfamiliar with computers, now creates complex GIS maps and dreams of becoming a climate data analyst. Stories like these reaffirm our belief in the power of opportunity and structured training.

As this center continues to thrive, it stands as a beacon of hope, skill, and transformation—proving that geography should never determine destiny.
